Lincoln City Council member Bennie Shobe grew up in Kentucky. He moved to Nebraska to attend UNL and stayed because he grew to love the community. As Bennie likes to say – he’s a Kentuckian by birth but a Nebraskan by choice.
In the 20 plus years that he has lived in Lincoln, Bennie has served on dozens of community boards, advisory committees, neighborhood associations and non-profits.
He has served as past president of the Lincoln Branch NAACP and on the Lincoln Police Hiring and Promotion Committee, Lincoln Commission on Human Rights, Indian Center, Inc. Board of Directors and the Malone Community Center Board of Directors.
